Points To Remember
- Always test a swatch first
- Rub stain remover on a hidden piece of fabric
- Try least harmful method first
React Quickly
- Apply stain remover as soon as possible
WARNING!
Heat, hot water and detergent may permanently set stains. Launder immediately after treatment
Work Inside Out
- Apply stain remover on underside of spot to prevent stain from being forced down through the fabric
Sponge Technique
- Place reverse side of stain on a clean folded cloth
- Using solvent sparingly, gently dab into stain using moistened cloth or cotton
- Work from centre to edge, moving pad underneath as stain is absorbed
Absorbent Application
- Lay stain on clean cloth
- Spread layer of absorbent (eg: cornstarch) on stain and work in gently
- When absorbent cakes, shake or brush off
- Repeat until most of the stain is gone
- Apply final layer, allow to remain overnight
- Do not use on dark or unwashable fabrics!
Bleach solution
1. Untreated white cotton
a. 1 cup bleach to 1 gallon cold or lukewarm water
b. Soak up to 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly
2. Washables
a. 2 tablespoons liquid bleach to 1 litre cold water
b. Soak 5 to 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly
3. Non-washables
a. 1 teaspoon liquid bleach to one cup water
b. Apply directly to stain with medicine dropper and rinse thoroughly
