Blood
- Soak in cold water for one hour, rub with soap then wash
- If stain persists, soak in 3 teaspoons ammonia to 1 litre water the wash with bleach
- or, Cover with cornstarch paste, rinse from back with lukewarm soapy water
- Non-washables – sponge with cold water, spread paste of starch and cold water, let dry then brush off lightly
- or, Cover with meat tenderizer, make paste with cool water, let set for 30 minutes the sponge with cool water
- Leather – dab with hydrogen peroxide, let bubble, wipe off, or, pour a little hydrogen peroxide on the stain, soak in cool water for several hours then launder
Urine
- Soak in 1/2 white vinegar to 1/2 cool water
- Wash with detergent and cool water then rinse
- or, Sponge with mild ammonia solution or bicarbonate of soda and water, rinse in clean warm water then launder
Perspiration
- Rub with liquid detergent, rinse, wash with warm water
- If stain persists, apply ammonia or white vinegar or lemon juice, rinse then wash
- or, Rub with paste of baking soda and water, allow to absorb then launder
- or, Dissolve two aspirins in water, soak clothing, rinse well then launder
- or, Wet shirt collar with warm water, rub in cream of tartar then launder
Vomit
- Soak in 1 cup salt to 4 litres cool water, rinse then wash
- If stain persists, apply a few drops of ammonia, rinse then wash.
