Indoor

Stick-on Hooks, Labels

  1. Removal – saturate a cloth or sponge with hot vinegar, squeeze liquid behind hook for contact with adhesive

Unclog Drains

  1. Pour 1/2 cup salt and/or 1/2 cup baking soda down drain, followed by boiling water, flush with hot tap water

Kitchen Odours

  1. After cooking fish, etc. place whole unpeeled lemon in 300º oven for 15 minutes leaving door open slightly, turn oven off, let lemon cool before removing
  2. or boil 3 teaspoon ground clove in 2 cup water for 15 minutes
  3. or heat vinegar on range

Scorched Irons

  1. Sprinkle table salt on wax paper, iron with cold iron and polish iron with silver polish
  2. or polish with very fine wet waterproof sandpaper or very fine steel wool or non-abrasive cleanser
  3. or rub ice cube over scorch mark
  4. or apply baking soda to slightly warm iron with a damp cloth, scrub, rinse with a clean damp cloth

Ironing

  1. Sprinkle talcum powder on white shirts before and after ironing to prevent absorption of oil and grime

Toothbrushes

  1. Great for scrubbing and getting into narrow, hard to reach places

Dirty Hands

  1. Ballpoint pen or paint marks – rub with nail polish remover
  2. Super glue – soak cotton ball or cloth with nail polish remover and hold onto area until glue dissolves.

Outdoor

Driveway Stains

  1. Apply oven cleaner, let sit for a few minutes, rinse
  2. or pour heavy layer of kitty litter on area, let stand for a day, apply strong solution of detergent and hot water, scrub well
  3. or spray with prewash, let stand for 5 minutes, sprinkle on powdered detergent, scrub with broom and hose off.
